Our special guest is back: Meritxell Garcia, the artist behind the beloved Heroes Made in Asia mascot Mochi, returns to Utrecht for the 2026 edition of the show! Known for her vibrant style, character-driven storytelling, and her popular webtoon Gecko Chan, Meritxell continues to inspire fans around the world with her work.

This year, she’s returining to Heroes Made in Asia not only as a guest but as one of the creative minds shaping the visual identity of the event. With a strong background in Graphic Design, Art Direction, and over 15 years of experience in the advertising and design industry, Meritxell made the leap to focus on Concept Art and Illustration, a decision that led to an outstanding portfolio across multiple fields such as video games, animation, publishing, and teaching at Escola Joso in Barcelona.

Meritxell has contributed artwork to major publishers including Editorial El Pirata, Norma Editorial, Planeta Cómic, and Salvat, while also continuing the worldwide success of her comedic webtoon Gecko Chan. Her ability to bring characters and worlds to life with humor, emotion, and depth has made her one of the most dynamic illustrators of her generation.
