During Heroes Made in Asia, you will taste the most delicious authentic flavors Asia has to offer and learn from master chefs how to cook like a true professional.
Asian cuisine is known for its fresh ingredients, aromatic herbs, and rich flavors. The Far East has already introduced the Dutch to several classics such as satay, sushi, and spring rolls, but there is so much more to discover. On March 21 and 22, we will take you on a delicious journey through this beautiful part of the world, and our top chefs will teach you how to cook authentically. With more than twenty different food stalls, eight masterclasses, and thirteen demonstrations, there is more than enough to taste and discover.
Taste, savor, and experience
On March 21 and 22, we will transform Jaarbeurs Utrecht into the ultimate meeting place for lovers of Asia. We will celebrate the rich traditions and cultures of the Far East, with food playing a central role. In Asian cultures, food represents connection, togetherness, and sharing. The beating heart of Heroes Made in Asia is therefore our cozy Food Market, where more than 20 food stands serve authentic dishes from all corners of Asia. Taste Korean corndogs, Nepalese momo, and Indian sambal, as well as classics such as sushi, satay, and spekkoek.
Learn from the masters
Foodies who want to brush up on their knowledge can join informative demonstrations and masterclasses by professional chefs in our Food Theater. Especially for Heroes Made in Asia, top Japanese chef Miyuki Masuda is traveling to Utrecht to share her expertise in Japanese cuisine. Masuda is chef de partie at the renowned sushi restaurant Kashiba, founded by Jiro Ono’s student Kashiba Shiro. In addition to her masterclasses, Masuda will also take part in a cooking battle with Vietnamese chef Lisa Nguyen, who will give several demonstrations and masterclasses on Vietnamese cuisine throughout the weekend.
Bring your notebook and appetite
There is much more to discover. We offer numerous Masterclasses where you can refine your cooking skills and where a love of food and cultural traditions come together. Learn to eat with chopsticks like a true pro, discover the traditions behind Japanese tea culture, or learn how to make the most perfect kimbap roll. During these sessions, we’ll take you on a journey through traditions, teach you how to choose high-quality ingredients, and send you home with handy tips for perfect results. From matcha latte workshops to sambal tastings, discover the chef in you.
Three countries, one event
Heroes Made in Asia goes beyond modern pop culture. We also introduce you to centuries-old traditions and cultural customs. For this edition, we are introducing three new themed areas: the Japanese Matsuri, the Korean District, and the Pasar Indonesia. Each area has its own program, activities, and unique atmosphere that celebrates the culture.
